SAN LEANDRO, Calif., Jan. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- A shopping experience focused on the customer's mobile lifestyle is now a reality in San Leandro. AT&T's new Store of the Future at 1580 E. 14th St. reflects the way mobile technology is changing our lives. The innovative retail design encourages personalized engagement between customers, employees, and mobile technology.
The San Leandro location is one of 59 AT&T concept stores nationwide, and customers in San Leandro will be among the first in the country to experience this new "Store of the Future." It's also the latest example of investments AT&T has already made in the East Bay. Throughout California, AT&T has invested $7.1 billion in its wireless and landline networks.
"As more businesses and residents in the San Leandro community rely on mobile technology to stay in touch, developments like AT&T's new concept store are incredibly important for our economic growth. We support policies that attract this sort of investment and advancement," said Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan. "We work hard to build a business climate that helps companies and creates job opportunities in San Leandro."
Many of the new store design and merchandising elements were first seen in AT&T's award-winning flagship brand store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago and are now coming to other company-owned retail stores across the country.
"Customers visiting our San Leandro store will discover an interactive shopping experience built around their mobile lifestyles," said Terry Stenzel, AT&T's vice president and general manager for Northern California and Northern Nevada. "Our goal is to provide an exceptional experience in every interaction, and we've been working hard to exceed customer expectations by taking our stores and network to the next level here in San Leandro."
Everything about the store is designed for ultimate flexibility, making it more convenient for customers to discover and learn about mobile technology. The store layout highlights AT&T's products, services, devices and accessories across three unique "zones" – the Connected Experience Zone, the Community Zone, and the Explore Zone.
The new Connected Experience Zone features "lifestyle vignettes" that offer customers a glimpse of how they can use mobile technology in their everyday lives. These lifestyle pavilions feature categories such as music, home security, entertainment and more.
Next is the Community Zone, where "community tables" let customers shop and play in an open and interactive space. This zone has apps, accessories and devices on display to show customers how technology can enhance their lives.
Finally, customers can check out the Explore Zone with "explore walls" that showcase AT&T's diverse device line-up and accessories, complemented by digital monitors with product information.
A more personal service experience
What customers won't see in these new stores is almost as important as what they will see. Gone are the traditional retail cash-registers. Instead, round cafe-style "learning tables" allow customers to work side-by-side with an AT&T retail consultant and ask questions or learn about a product or service. All retail consultants carry a tablet supported by a new mobile point-of-sale system for customer assistance anywhere in the store.
Digital signage is also replacing the printed product brochures common in many stores. With e-brochures and interactive video monitors, customers literally have information at their fingertips. Digital signage makes it easier for AT&T to deliver the most up-to-date messaging faster and more efficiently.
Hours for the new San Leandro store are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. AT&T has more than 758 retail locations in California.
