Fifty-five students made up the 12 high school teams that competed in a 60-minute challenge, using a predetermined list of ingredients to create three classic French dishes: Chicken Fricassée, Rice Pilaf, and Niçoise Salad. Teams were judged by Escoffier chef instructors on sanitation, safety, teamwork, timing, technique, plate presentation, and creativity.
Young Escoffier first-, second- and third-place winning teams here:
First place: Ponderosa High School (CO)--Each team member received a $3,000 scholarship to apply toward a culinary education at Escoffier.
Second: Laramie High School (WY)--Each team member received a $2,000 scholarship to apply toward a culinary education at Escoffier.
Third: Brush High School (CO)--Each team member received a $1,500 scholarship to apply toward a culinary education at Escoffier.
Every participant received a $500 scholarship to Escoffier contributing to a total of $60,000 in scholarships awarded.
