Australian Film And Television Finance Company DEMS Entertainment Announces Los Angeles Launch And American Film Market Reception Party
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- DEMS Entertainment, a film and television finance company originally based in Canberra, Australia, has announced their official launch into the Los Angeles market with a private reception party on November 5th, which will take place at Shutters On The Beach in Santa Monica from 6pm-9pm and is centered around the annual American Film Market (AFM) industry event.
The party will include a wine and beer bar, custom crafted cocktails, live music, a photo set up, and the chance to take in the beautiful Santa Monica sunset, along with food options including Hors d'oeuvres, sliders, tuna tartare, Thai chicken skewers, crispy egg rolls, a Mediterranean buffet, and an homage to Italy with a pizza station offering everything from the classic Margherita to a Cali bbq chicken.
DEMS Entertainment was launched by the De Margheriti family as a platform for seeking out original, groundbreaking material and working with experienced teams to bring their stories to life. This includes Chairman of the Board member John De Margheriti, who is seen as a founding father of Australia's video game industry and Australia's most experienced interactive entertainment business executive.
Other key members of the team include director Vicki De Margheriti, board member David De Margheriti, President Adam Kline, who runs DEMS Entertainment's North American operations from their Los Angeles offices, and founding member Emily De Margheriti. Aside from her role as a producer, Emily also acts in the films I Hate Kids, Chaos (2018) and Theatre of the Dead (2013).
The De Margheriti family-run conglomerate currently operates 10 companies, which include a focus on video games, 3D and VFX education, real estate, film and games funding, film and game co-working spaces and a technology park. Other key projects include The Film Distillery, which is a creative lab designed to collaborate with and cultivate the next wave of innovative writers in film and television.
DEMS Entertainment has recently invested in the upcoming film Ladies In Black from Bruce Beresford, who was the director on the acclaimed 1989 film Driving Miss Daisy featuring Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy, which won Best Picture at the Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. The film is set for a 2018 release and is adapted from the bestselling novel by Madeleine St John.
The company also recently invested in the upcoming film I Hate Kids featuring Emmy Nominated actor Tituss Burgess, Tom Everett Scott, and Rachel Boston, along with the film Blue World Order. This is set for a 2017 release and will feature Billy Zane and Bruce Spence. The film was written and directed by Dallas Bland and Ché Baker, known for his work on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
