SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Aviat Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVNW), the leading expert in microwave networking solutions, today announced the State of Nevada has awarded a $10 million network upgrade project to Aviat. Included in the project are Aviat's IRU 600 EHP radio, CTR microwave routers, AviatCloud automation platform and full portfolio of design, deployment and managed services.
The State selected Aviat based on an end-to-end offering/solution that significantly lowers the total cost of ownership (TCO). Aviat's CTR 8500 microwave router converges the functions of a microwave indoor unit and an IP/MPLS router into a single device thereby reducing the number of boxes to buy, deploy and maintain thus lowering overall cost. In addition, the State will purchase IRU 600 EHP, the most powerful microwave radio ever built. IRU 600 EHP allows the State to use smaller antennas and avoid large sums in costly tower retrofits.
Aviat will deliver a network management system including IP/MPLS and other operational tools via its AviatCloud platform and will also provide a complete turnkey solution to the State that includes all services for planning, engineering, installation and support to design and build the network. Included in the award is multi-year support for outsourced managed services including network monitoring and maintenance. These operations solutions offer further simplification and TCO improvements.
"We continue to strengthen our mission-critical portfolio to better serve public safety, first responders and state agencies," stated Michael Pangia, president and CEO, Aviat Networks. "We have highly differentiated offerings for state and local government customers with products, services and support specifically designed to meet the unique challenges of this market segment."
