NEW YORK, April 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Marshall Aerospace, GA Telesis, LATAM Airline Group and Rockwell Collins' Intertrade were named as the 2014 winners of the "MRO of the Year" Awards presented today by Penton's Aviation Week, the largest multimedia information and services provider to the global aviation, aerospace and defense industries.
The prestigious awards, which honor outstanding achievement and innovation in the aviation aftermarket industry, were presented at a ceremony during the MRO Americas 2014 Conference & Exhibition (www.aviationweek.com/events/mro) at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, AZ.
Marshall Aerospace received the Military Center of Excellence Award for its response following a hailstorm in Afghanistan that severely damaged five UK RAF Hercules C-130J aircraft. Working closely with Lockheed Martin and the UK Ministry of Defence, Marshall Aerospace established a dedicated team to rapidly repair the damage.
GA Telesis won the Leading Independent MRO Award, honoring its expansion of global material and services in 2013, including the integration of GA Telesis Engine Services (GATES) in Finland and the first commercial aircraft disassembly and parts redistribution in China.
LATAM Airline Group received the Airline Maintenance Excellence Award recognizing its rapid integration and growth in profitability following its LAN and TAM airlines merger in mid-2012, which created Latin America's biggest airline.
Rockwell Collins' Intertrade division was honored with the Innovative Supplier/OEM Services Provider Award. Intertrade, which has been supplying used serviceable parts for 40 years, boldly expanded into engine spares in 2013, which completed its evolution from a one-product specialist to a full service used component supplier.
Following presentation of the MRO of the Year awards, Dave Ramage received this year's coveted Lifetime Achievement Award. Ramage, a talented engineering leader, spent 31 years in various engineering and maintenance positions at Air Canada before joining JetBlue Airways, where he was most recently VP, Technical Operations. Ramage was honored for his active participation in the industry and for encouraging his employees in pursuit of safety, operational improvements and continuing education.
