AXE® Joins the Inaugural New York Fashion Week: Men's as Official Grooming Partner

Jul 13, 2015, 08:00 ET from Unilever

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., July 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, AXE® will join the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) as the Official Grooming Sponsor of the inaugural New York Fashion Week: Men's (NYFW: M). As the American fashion industry prepares for this new menswear forum, AXE will be at the forefront helping to usher in a new generation of creators and tastemakers.

Beginning July 14, fans can visit AXE social channels for exclusive behind-the-scenes access to NYFW: Men's, bringing the best of men's fashion and style to guys everywhere. AXE will support the emerging designer platform throughout the week, a showcase for rising designers to debut their collections to top editors, buyers and influencers. AXE will also provide styling teams for eight established and emerging designers including Billy Reid, Siki Im, Lucio Castro, Thorsun, deTROIT, Ricardo Seco, Engineered for Motion and Gypsy Sport.

"AXE is always at home with its finger on the pulse of emerging cultural influences, wherever they are," said Matthew McCarthy, senior director, AXE & Men's Grooming for Unilever. "Our guys are passionate about curating their own personal style, regardless of whether they're dressing up or dressing down, so we're psyched to be part of this exciting moment in the evolution of American men's fashion."

The emerging designer platform at NYFW: Men's marks only one of the ways AXE is investing in young talent and comes on the heels of the AXE White Label Collective mentorship program, launched earlier this year. Through a nationwide search for the brightest rising menswear designers, AXE – along with award-winning musician John Legend and American menswear designer Billy Reid and Esquire magazine selected five designers to receive hands-on mentorship and access to industry resources in order to turn their aspirations into reality during New York Fashion Week in September.

"We are very pleased to have AXE on board for the inaugural New York Fashion Week: Men's, especially given its existing commitment to showcase emerging talent and designers," said Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA.
