Babson College Student Businesses Earned More Than $30,000 For Local Charities

WELLESLEY, Mass., Aug. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Babson College first-year students have earned more than $30,000 for charitable organizations while learning the fundamentals of business.

As part of the school's required full-year course entitled Foundations of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME), teams of first-year students began developing their business plans when they arrived in Fall semester.  While learning the nuts and bolts of inventing, developing, launching, managing, and liquidating a business, students were then given the opportunity to translate their skills into real world applications.

In Spring semester the students launched 16 ventures which reaped $30,703 in profits for selected charities. In addition to running their businesses, the students donated their time and resources to local community service agencies of their choice.
