Babson College to Assist Bangkok University in Development of School of Entrepreneurship

WELLESLEY, Mass., Feb. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bangkok University has become a member of Babson's new Global Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education (GCEE), as of January 2011. In association with Bangkok University's GCEE membership, Babson College will assist Bangkok University in the development of its School of Entrepreneurship.

Bangkok University is creating a School of Entrepreneurship dedicated to entrepreneurial studies not only in Thailand but ultimately in Southeast Asia. In addition, the University is developing its existing Creative Entrepreneurship Development Institute (CEDI).

Possible collaboration will take place regarding the following:

• Design of curriculum
• Faculty Fellows training program for Bangkok University faculty members who will spend one full semester at Babson
• Co-curricular activity development
• Research and case study development
• Providing international experiences for students.

GCEE is a network of global partners -- institutions of higher education from around the world -- that share Babson's vision of educational, economic, and societal change driven by the power of entrepreneurial thought and action. GCEE partners will collaborate on

1. cutting-edge educational content and curricula and
2. developing a cadre of faculty with global exposure and enormous depth of experience to create and deliver innovative and impactful education programs.

As the founding member of this global alliance, Babson will lead the development of curricula, programs, and activities that are central to GCEE.

Bangkok University is a private, non-profit, co-educational institution under patronage of the Bangkok University Foundation. It is the oldest and largest private university in Thailand, established in 1962. The Inspiration for establishment of this university came from founders' desire to establish a tertiary educational institution to train students in theoretical and practical experiments, and academic ability. The University is comprised of 12 schools ranging from Business Administration to Fine & Applied Arts, and is growing rapidly.

The relationship between Babson and Bangkok University began three years ago when Bangkok University began working with Babson's Glavin Center for assistance in becoming the premier entrepreneurship school in Thailand.

Since then, Babson had delivered multiple Modules for Entrepreneurship Educators programs in Thailand. Bangkok University has become a member of Babson's Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practice (STEP) program.
