SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Sept. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Badlands Motor Speedway owner Chuck Brennan announced the payout schedule for the 2016 racing season at a news conference Sunday. The weekly purse is $50,000, the largest of any short track in the country.
Brennan also announced the pricing for season tickets, special events, and general admission at the brand new Badlands Motor Speedway in Brandon. The Speedway is undergoing a major $5 million facelift with a new lighting system on the racetrack and parking lot, huge video boards that will feature live-camera shots from around the track, new electrical and plumbing infrastructure, a new infield and updated grandstands.
The special events at the track next year will include the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, National Sprint League, Monster X truck show and the national finals for the Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pull series. Badlands Motor Speedway will play host to five major music concerts throughout the summer at its new outdoor concert venue…the largest such venue in the region.
Tickets for the 2016 season are available today at www.badlandsmotorspeedway.com with a 25% refundable deposit. There are several pricing options and for the first time in the track's 62-year history, fans can purchase season tickets for the entire summer and be assured the same seat. A total of 41 events are scheduled for 2016, and season ticket prices range from $300-$1,500 with several packages available.
Next year's Saturday night Badlands Featured Race is highlighted by the 410 Sprint cars with the winner receiving $5,000. The payback throughout the 410 Sprint car field is also bigger, starting at $700. General admission for a regular Saturday night racing program is $20.
Sunday night's program, which is Half Price Family Night, will feature a $2,500 payday to the winner of the 360 Sprint car class. General admission for a regular Sunday night racing program is $10.
All six classes at Badlands Motor Speedway will have significant payout increases over previous years.
The 2016 season will start off in dramatic fashion on May 21 as BMS will host the $100,000 Silver Shootout, featuring the National Sprint League. The winner will receive $25,000 – in silver bars from Badlands Pawn, Gold and Jewelry in Sioux Falls. Drivers can keep their winning silver or bring it to Badlands Pawn as early as the next day, May 22, to exchange it for cash.
Next August, the speedway will host a three-day $250,000 Rock N Roll Gold Cup from August 19-21. A major music concert will kick things off on Thursday, August. 18. The Gold Cup will feature both disciplines of sprint car racing; winged and non-winged. The winner of the championship race in both classes will receive $50,000. If a driver wins both features, he or she will receive an additional $25,000 for a $125,000 pay day.
Racing teams will also have something to shoot for during the entire season. Brennan announced a $100,000 Championship Point Fund in which the season's Top 10 finishers in all six classes will receive championship money.
With all of the upgrades, Badlands Motor Speedway will be a state-of-the-art racing and concert facility.
