Dedicated K–4 campus across from the existing school marks a significant milestone in BASIS Independent Bellevue's growth, creating learning environments tailored to students at every stage.
BELLEVUE, Wash., Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- BASIS Independent Bellevue is expanding with a dedicated Lower School campus serving kindergarten through Grade 4, opening in Fall 2027. Located directly across the street from the school's current campus, the new Lower School will provide an environment designed around the learning and developmental needs of younger students, while the existing campus becomes the Upper School for Grades 5–12.
The expansion reflects the growing demand for a BASIS Independent education in the Bellevue community and represents an important investment in the student experience. With dedicated environments for younger and older students, BASIS Independent Bellevue will continue to build on its academically ambitious curriculum while creating spaces that encourage exploration, creativity, and discovery at every stage of learning.
Located at 15760 NE 4th Street in Bellevue, the newly renovated, two-story Lower School campus will feature 16 classrooms, a dining hall, an exercise room, and dedicated spaces for music, performing arts, visual arts, and engineering. Outdoor spaces will include a playground and covered play area. The approximately 30,000-square-foot building sits on 1.5 acres and will be led by Rebecca Huang, who currently serves as Bellevue's Associate Head of School.
"Our youngest students are curious and capable of more than most people expect," said Rebecca Huang. "This campus gives them a space designed around their needs, where they can explore, ask questions, and discover what they're capable of, all within the community they already call home."
The new campus will build on BASIS Independent Bellevue's established Lower School program, pairing expert teachers with an academically ambitious liberal arts and sciences curriculum in a warm, welcoming environment. Grounded in the belief that students are capable of more than they can imagine, the BASIS Independent approach encourages children to think independently, embrace new challenges, and develop a lasting love of learning.
"Families are looking for a school that takes their children's potential seriously from the very beginning," said Toby Walker, Vice President of BASIS Independent Schools. "This expansion reflects the demand we're seeing for a BASIS Independent education in Bellevue and our commitment to investing in the community. By creating dedicated spaces for students at different stages of their development, we're building on an educational experience that combines exceptional teachers, academic challenge, and the freedom to think boldly."
The new Lower School will further strengthen BASIS Independent Bellevue's educational experience, providing younger students with a dedicated environment to build the knowledge, confidence, and curiosity that will carry them into their Upper School years and beyond.
Applications are now open for kindergarten through Grade 4 for the 2027–28 school year. Families can learn more about the new Lower School campus, explore upcoming admissions events, and begin the application process at basisindependent.com/bellevue.
