BeachMint Addresses PandoDaily Refusal to Retract and Correct Indisputably False Assertions About The Company in July 2, 2013 article

SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On July 2, 2013, PandoDaily published an article with the following headline:  "BeachMint board ousts founders, company returns 20 million to investors."

That headline made two assertions that were and are false:  The board has not ousted its two founders, Josh Berman and Diego Berdakin; and no capital, much less $20 million, has been returned to investors.

The reporter who published this story, for PandoDaily, Michael Carney, never attempted to call either Mr. Berman or Mr. Berdakin or any of BeachMint's Board to verify these assertions.

Two weeks later, without any correction and retraction, the editor-in-chief and founder of PandoDaily, Sarah Lacey, on the telephone and via several emails, was asked by BeachMint's advisor, Lanny J. Davis, to publish a correction and retraction of these false assertions and an apology for not calling Messrs. Berman and Berdakin for confirmation or denial before publication -- an omission that is a fundamental violation of the rules of journalism and fairness.

Ms. Lacey, while not claiming that the two factual assertions in the headline were true, still refused to publish a correction and retraction and an apology for not calling Messrs. Berman and Berdakin first, an omission she did not dispute.

BeachMint trusts that its customers, employees, and others who have followed the company will take into account Ms. Lacy's and PandoDaily's refusal to correct and retract indisputable falsehoods about BeachMint and its senior officials in the future when judging the credibility of anything else appearing in PandoDaily about BeachMint.
