Beacon Health Options Names Jay Curley as Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs
Public Affairs Veteran Also Serves as CEO's Chief of Staff
BOSTON, May 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Beacon Health Options (Beacon), the nation's premier behavioral health management company, announced today that Jay Curley has joined the company as Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Chief of Staff to Chief Executive Officer Tim Murphy.
In his new role, Mr. Curley will develop and oversee Beacon's corporate affairs activities to help identify and facilitate the company's corporate strategy. Specifically, he will oversee Beacon's engagement with government, regulatory and public affairs; external communications; professional associations; corporate citizenship; and philanthropy and community relations.
With more than 25 years' experience in public affairs, government relations and policy development in both the public and private sectors, he joins Beacon from Jay Curley & Associates, a strategic public affairs and external relations consulting firm. Through that firm, he worked with Beacon's leadership team, providing strategic direction and guidance for the organization's external affairs agenda.
In 1998, Mr. Curley joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA), where he was responsible for ensuring that the company's interests were represented in Washington, D.C., as well as in state and local governments. He served as Senior Vice President and Chief Government and Public Affairs Officer from 2008 until he left in 2013. Mr. Curley also led the educational efforts for employees, customers, and the public at-large concerning BCBSMA's business initiatives, the insurance needs of Massachusetts residents, and the Massachusetts health care marketplace. His efforts helped BCBSMA become one of the most respected companies in Massachusetts.
Prior to coming to BCBSMA, Mr. Curley helped to shape important health care and insurance policy initiatives at the Massachusetts State House in the Joint Committee on Insurance and in the Senate as the senior staff person for the Chairman of the Insurance and Health Care committees.

Mr. Curley is active in the community, especially on issues affecting children. In 2008, he was appointed to the Children's Trust Fund, by the Governor of Massachusetts, serving as the Chair of the Legislative Committee. He is also a respected board member of numerous business trade organizations and public policy interest groups. Mr. Curley received his bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and his juris doctor degree from the New England School of Law.
