Behind the Official Label: What is "Made in America?"
WASHINGTON, Oct. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S. Department of Commerce's Economics and Statistics Administration (ESA) today released a new report that seeks to quantitatively answer the question of what is truly made in the U.S.A.? As part of our celebration of manufacturing week, we leverage data to answer this question by illuminating the dollar value of what America produces, and what percentage of the dollar value of an industry's output is considered domestic. We also drill down into two key manufacturing industries for further insights about what portion of "machinery" and "food, beverages and tobacco products" are truly made in the U.S.A.
