Benefitfocus Announces New Edition of Private Exchange Marketplace and Mobile Technology

Benefitfocus President and CEO reveals latest innovations during One Place. 2013. Keynote Address

CHARLESTON, S.C., May 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Benefitfocus, a leading healthcare and benefits technology provider, today revealed its latest benefits marketplace solutions and mobile apps including a new private exchange offering, BENEFITFOCUS HR INTOUCH MARKETPLACE® 2014 Edition. These new tools will be available for employers and insurance carriers as they prepare for the impacts of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and rise in healthcare consumerism. Benefitfocus President and CEO Shawn Jenkins delivered the keynote address to an audience of top technology, healthcare, benefits and human resource professionals from around the country who have gathered in Charleston for the three-day event. Jenkins introduced the concept of "The Next Five Octobers" to illustrate how the new Benefitfocus Portfolio of Products and Services is tailored to fit the modernized benefits lifecycle under the PPACA. He shared how the rollout of the PPACA creates opportunities to reshape strategies that will facilitate the transition to the new model of healthcare and benefits.

HR InTouch Marketplace 2014 Edition brings together a new consumer benefits shopping experience, offering defined contribution support and plan comparison tools that help employees make more informed decisions. Questionnaires are used to personalize the shopping workflow and guide employees in selecting options that best match their specific healthcare needs. Plan information is displayed in a way that is easy for employees to understand so they can fully appreciate the value of each offering. The marketplace's advanced reporting structure collects electronic verification from employees as they review the Summary of Benefits and Coverage and required notifications, capturing information during the enrollment process for healthcare reform mandates.

The live demonstration of the HR InTouch Mobile App was a highlight of the event as well. Designed for users of BENEFITFOCUS HR INTOUCH®, the native app allows employees to access all their benefits in one place, anywhere, on any iOS or Android device. The app gives employees the ability to review coverage details, update profile information and receive communications on-the-go. The app comes with the educational Video Library that they would find in the web version of the HR InTouch portal, including 20 new videos dedicated to explaining the impacts of healthcare reform.

Jenkins also shared an update on the growing partner relationships in which Benefitfocus has invested. Calling these relationships part of the Benefitfocus Ecosystem, he mentioned the long-standing partnership with Allstate, as well as SuccessFactors, Premera, SonicBoom Wellness and CodeBaby.
