Big Apple Takes Bite Out of First-Ever Steak 'n Shake Signature Restaurant

NEW YORK, Jan. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Steak 'n Shake®, one of the most beloved and longest established brands in the premium burger and milk shake segment of the restaurant industry, shook up Times Square today with the launch of its first Steak 'n Shake Signature® restaurant concept to hungry New Yorkers who waited hours to get a taste of the first ever Steak 'n Shake in New York City.

A line of customers began forming early in the morning as word spread of the opening and the promise of free hand-crafted Steakburgers and hand-dipped milk shakes. More than 2,000 customers were expected to visit the new restaurant on its first day. In a show of gratitude to the welcoming city, Steak 'n Shake donated 900 pounds of beef and 1,000 pounds of potatoes to Second Harvest Food Bank of New York.

The new, contemporary Signature restaurant features a counter-service-only model with a simple menu, primarily serving popular core items such as Steakburgers™ and milk shakes. The restaurant concept, which is smaller in footprint than the nearly 500 Steak 'n Shake restaurants nationwide, also features beer and fine wine.

Also making its debut was "The Signature Steakburger™" – a 6 ounce, 100 percent USDA-certified Organic Steakburger. The Signature Steakburger is made of only the top grade of the finest cuts of meat including ribeye and New York strip, devoid of preservatives, hormones, and antibiotics.

The New York Steak 'n Shake Signature restaurant is located at 1695 Broadway, between 53rd and 54th Streets, and is open from 10 a.m. to midnight.

Steak 'n Shake's menu prices are the same across the country, from the Original Double Cheese Steakburger 'n fries for $3.99 to the hand-dipped, real-milk classic flavor milkshakes for $2.99. The Signature Steakburger 'n Fries is available for $5.99.
