Bill Nye, Sesame Street and 23 Educators to Be Honored by the Academy of Education Arts and Sciences
Annual Bammy Awards Goes Digital for 2015
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today the Academy of Education Arts and Sciences announced details of the Bammy Awards showcase set to be streamed live on September 26th at 7pm ET. This year's awards will include special presentations to Bill Nye, Sesame Street and Alan November for their exceptional contributions to the education field. The cross-discipline showcase will also honor 23 education professionals, para-professionals and education support staff from diverse communities across the education village. For the first time, the Bammy Awards will be virtual and interactive and will include both back stories on nominees and video shout-outs. The showcase will be hosted by Dr. Joe Sanfelippo and Dr.Tony Sinanis. Both are known nationally for encouraging educators to connect, collaborate and share their positive stories with the world.
One of the highlights of the evening will be live remote broadcasts from Bammy Awards viewing parties around the nation. Several national associations will be participating in the showcase, including the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the association of School Business Officials (ASBO), the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), the National Association of School Nurses (NASN), the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), and the National Education Association (NEA). The showcase will also include a pre-show countdown to the Bammy Awards and post-show interviews with this year's new Bammy Award laureates. A few past Bammy Award laureates will make cameo appearances, including Timothy Shriver, Chairman of the Special Olympics. The highest honor the Academy presents, the first and only gold Bammy Award, will be introduced during the showcase. Winners of the Bammy EdTech Awards will also be announced. In the running are education technology resources from Cengage, TES, Bloomz, Sphero, Noodle, GPA Math, MakerBot and Cogent.
