BlazeSports Atlanta Falcons to Host Georgia's First Wheelchair Football Tournament
Teams from across the country will compete in historic, Georgia-based sporting event
ATLANTA, Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- BlazeSports America, a nonprofit organization founded after the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games and a leader in the field of adaptive sports and recreation, announces Georgia's first USA Wheelchair Football League (USAWFL) Tournament on October 3-4 in Kennesaw. This tournament will bring together eight teams from across the country, including the Georgia-based BlazeSports Atlanta Falcons, for two days of competitive wheelchair football.
The event follows an impressive debut for the BlazeSports Atlanta Falcons wheelchair football team at the USAWFL's Chicago Tournament in August. In their first tournament, the Falcons finished fourth overall, the strongest debut by a new USAWFL team since 2022.
The Georgia tournament will bring together athletes, coaches, families, and supporters to celebrate one of the nation's fastest-growing adaptive sports. It is open to the public and free to attend. Volunteer opportunities are also available here.

The BlazeSports Atlanta Falcons will compete against wheelchair football teams from New York, North Carolina, Texas, Missouri, California, New Orleans, and Massachusetts. By hosting the event, BlazeSports aims to expand competitive opportunities for adults with physical disabilities while introducing more athletes and fans to the sport.
"Wheelchair football is still a growing adaptive sport, so being part of a team that is helping expand the game in Georgia is really meaningful," said Christina Young, a member of the BlazeSports Atlanta Falcons. "Now, having the opportunity to compete against other teams in our own community makes it even more special. We hope this tournament introduces more people to adaptive sports overall and encourages more athletes to get involved."
