Build Group's Jason Berry Finalist for San Francisco Business Times - CFO of the Year Awards
Bay Area general contractor, Build Group's CFO Jason Berry was nominated as one of the Top CFOs of the Year in the Bay Area.
SAN FRANCISCO, July 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Jason Berry, CFO and Principal of Build Group, Inc. and affiliates was honored as a finalist at the San Francisco Business Times' CFO of the Year Awards in the Non-Public Company category. Jason was honored, on June 5th at the Westin St. Francis Hotel along with other CFOs in the Bay Area including, Tesla Inc., Netflix Inc., Restoration Hardware, Square Inc. and other regional Public and Private powerhouses. The event was hosted by Larkin Street Youth Services and each nominee was honored for their outstanding accomplishments in finance, growth management and contribution to the community.
As the CFO of Build Group, Jason oversees all aspects of Finance, Accounting, IT, Administration, Supply Chain and the Intellectual Property portfolio of Build Group's constellation of operating companies. During his tenure, Jason has successfully managed Build Group's financial growth from $2.7 million in annual revenue in 2009 to a projected $350 million in revenue in 2014, while achieving substantial improvements in margins year-over-year and improving the long-term capital structure of the Group. In addition to his core CFO duties, Jason has taken a hands-on role in operations by establishing cross-border supply chain operations, optimizing processes and helping secure new revenue streams.
Jason earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Economics from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo where he graduated with the Dean's Award and numerous other academic awards. Jason worked in a variety of positions in Japan, USA and Ukraine over a period of five years ranging from manufacturing to public service. Jason returned to the US to study at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where he earned an MBA degree as well as an MA in International Studies with an emphasis in Russian Language from the Lauder Institute at University of Pennsylvania's School of Arts & Sciences.
Jason is a licensed black belt and Judo Instructor, an avid linguist and loves to travel. Jason's journeys include a recent 4-month overland trip from California to the southern tip of Argentina, Motorcycling across Japan and Asia as well as numerous trips by land, sea and air to over 100 countries. He also supports a number of philanthropic causes in the Bay Area and nationally including wounded veterans, United States Peace Corps and youth activity programs.
