Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE:CHK) shares jumped 0.15% to $26.31. The company on Nov. 6 reported a third-quarter profit, but it said its oil production would be lower this quarter. Profit came to $156 million, or 24 cents per share, in the third quarter, compared with a year-earlier loss of $2.1 billion, or $3.19 per share, that included write-downs of the value of some natural gas assets. Excluding asset sales and restructuring charges, earnings of 43 cents per share matched the analysts' average estimate, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. Daily production of oil and gas dipped 2 percent in the third quarter due to asset sales, but daily oil output alone rose 23 percent, the company said.

With JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. (ADR)(NASDAQ:JASO) shares having tripled from their April lows going into the company's Q3 report, investors aren't in a forgiving mood over its EPS miss, even though it's accompanied by a revenue beat and 500.2MW of cell/module shipments (beating guidance of 450MW-470MW).A 37% Q/Q increase in opex to $37.5M (blamed partly on a $7.5M accounts receivable provision) had much to do with the EPS miss. JA is guiding for Q4 cell/module shipments of 500MW-550MW, and has upped its full-year shipment guidance to 1.9GW-1.95GW.Like many peers, JA is seeing steadily rising gross margins. Q3 GM was 11.3%, up from 8.1% in Q2 and -5.9% a year ago. China accounted for 38.7% of shipments, other parts of Asia-Pac 39.3%. Europe's share dove to 9.3% from Q2's 19.7%, while the Americas rose to 10.7% from 7.9%. Module shipments to the U.S. more than tripled Q/Q. Chinese and Japanese demand are also said to be healthy. JA ended Q3 with $401.1M in cash/equivalents, and $628.1M in debt.

Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE:RAD) shares jumped 3.24% to $5.73. The company on Nov. 12 said that it has elected Kevin Lofton, president and CEO of hospital operator Catholic Health Initiatives, to its board of directors. The retail pharmacy chain said that Lofton is a widely recognized and respected health care industry leader whose knowledge and experience will help Rite Aid grow. Lofton also serves on the boards of Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Conifer Health Solutions LLC and Gilead Sciences Inc.

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) said it has completed the build-out of the company's supercharging station network to connect drivers in Austin, Houston, Dallas and San Antonio. The California-based company will open two stations in Huntsville and Corsicana on Nov. 26. The stations complement existing stations in San Marcos, Waco and Columbus, to allow Tesla Model S owners to recharge their vehicles for free when driving between major Texas cities. It takes about 20 minutes to recharge half the battery of a Model S. The Model S has a range of 265 miles.
