Firm Expanding Capabilities to Develop Mitigation Banks Nationwide
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Sundeep Amin has joined Burns & McDonnell to help grow and expand the firm's services and capabilities in establishing mitigation and conservation banks, areas of land set aside to offset development impacts to wetlands, streams and threatened or endangered species and their habitats.
With approval from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Burns & McDonnell opened a first-of-its-kind conservation bank for bats, Chariton Hills Conservation Bank, in northern Missouri in July 2018. The bank totals 1,300 acres and is the first conservation bank approved in the United States to protect the Indiana bat and northern long-eared bat. Amin brings experience and specialties to Burns & McDonnell
As a senior environmental scientist with the firm, Amin will focus on moving mitigation and conservation banking projects through entitlement efforts, including land acquisition, property analysis and baseline data establishment. He brings more than 14 years of experience working as a biologist, restoration ecologist, environmental compliance specialist and project manager. His specialties include habitat restoration, biological constraints analyses, leading and conducting sensitive species surveys (floral and faunal), mitigation monitoring, botanical surveys and jurisdictional delineations. He has worked on projects for a variety of clients, including all branches of the military, private developers, energy clients, utility companies, and local, state and federal agencies.
