Businessolver saw employees rating empathy as an increasingly important value in the workplace, with 96% of respondents in 2018 stating that empathy is important for a company to demonstrate — the highest percentage thus far in Businessolver's annual study. Yet, more employees than ever (92%) also believe empathy is undervalued in U.S. workplaces. Many leaders still consider empathy a "soft skill" that is difficult to measure, even though 87% of CEOs believe a company's financial performance is tied to empathy.
