BYUtv Premieres Powerful, Fantastical New Zealand-Set Family Series "Secrets at Red Rocks"

8-episode book adaptation combines wild coastal landscapes, ancient Celtic folklore and contemporary drama

PROVO, Utah , Feb. 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- BYUtv, the home of inspiring family entertainment – streaming free and available on cable and satellite – today announced its premiere of "Secrets at Red Rocks," a powerful live-action adaptation of the award-winning novel by author Rachael King. Set in New Zealand, "Secrets at Red Rocks" follows the journey of Jake, an eccentric boy struggling to find belonging whose life is profoundly impacted by his discovery of mythical selkies who shapeshift from seal to human form. All eight episodes will be released digitally on March 9, streaming for free on the BYUtv app and BYUtv.org, after which two episodes per week will air on BYUtv beginning March 13.

With a curious mind and a love of animals and the great outdoors, Jake finds it hard to fit in. Between constant bullying at school and feeling overlooked in his own household, Jake's determined to make the most of his holiday to his father's house in Wellington and finally find a place he belongs. Things take a turn when while exploring the rugged coastline, Jake discovers a special sealskin that leads him into the mysterious, fantastical world of the selkies. Packed with oceanic adventure, "Secrets at Red Rocks" brings forward timeless messages of belonging and the importance of family, while also showing the value of inner strength and bravery in the face of frightening adversity.
