Calling All Aspiring Filmmakers

BOCA RATON, Fla., Dec. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, iPic Theaters announced it will sponsor the first-ever iPic Members Film Festival. From January 7 – February 10, all iPic members will be able to submit a two to six minute film with the theme "Earth Preservation" to the competition.

Fans can vote for their favorite films via their local iPic Theater Facebook page. The first round of voting will be open from February 15 – March 14. The top 240 films that receive the most votes in each market will be screened at local theaters on March 28, April 4 and 11.

During the screenings, the audience will have an opportunity to cast their vote for their favorite film. In addition, a panel of judges will vote for the films entered into the Finalist Film Festival. Judging criteria includes: overall quality of film (20%); effectiveness of environmental message (20%); originality (20%); entertainment value (20%); and public voting (20%).

The best 16 films (two from each location) will be showcased on April 20 at the Finalist Film Festival at each local iPic Theaters location. The audience and judges will vote for the best overall film and the winner's film, which will be announced on April 22 – Earth Day – will be featured in preshows at all iPic Theaters for one month, as well as featured on www.ipictheaters.com. The winner will also receive a grand prize of an iPic gift card in the amount of $500. The two runner ups will each get a prize pack of an iPic gift card in the amount of $250 for the first runner up, and a $150 gift card for the second runner up.

Tickets to the Finalists Film Festival are $9.00 Premium, $14.00 Premium PLUS. Each ticket includes two drink tickets as well as a selection of passed light appetizers.
