Camargo Pharmaceutical Services' Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer Honored with "Icons of Pharmacy Award"

CINCINNATI, May 3, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Camargo Pharmaceutical Services, a leading drug development and commercialization partner, announced today that Ruth Stevens, PhD, MBA, co-founder and chief scientific officer, has been recognized by Oregon State University (OSU) as a winner of the 2019 Icons of Pharmacy Award.

The award recognizes OSU alumni with distinguished and meritorious contributions to the pharmacy profession throughout their careers and dedication to the College of Pharmacy.

This year's winners will be inducted into the OSU Pharmacy Hall of Fame on May 4 at the 14th annual Icons of Pharmacy recognition dinner near the Portland, Oregon OSU campus.

Stevens began her career at the FDA as a pharmacokinetic reviewer and team lead in the Office of Clinical Pharmacology and Biopharmaceutics.

Before joining Camargo, Stevens managed clinical and scientific activities related to clinical trials. A significant portion of her work during this time focused on women's health.

Stevens co-founded Camargo in 2003. At the time, a new drug approval pathway known as 505(b)(2) had recently been enacted. Stevens, and co-founder Ken Phelps, were both involved with the first drug approval leveraging this new 505(b)(2) pathway. Recognizing the potential to address unmet patient needs by bringing new therapeutics to market faster and more cost effectively, Stevens and Phelps co-founded Camargo to provide development services to pharmaceutical companies worldwide.

Stevens holds a PhD in Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics from OSU. She also holds an MBA from Xavier University.
