WINNIPEG, Jan. 7, 2014 /CNW/ - Canada's History society is pleased to announce the appointment of Melony Ward as publisher effective February 1st, 2014. Ms. Ward will be responsible for overseeing the advertising sales, circulation and marketing for Canada's History and Kayak magazines and CanadasHistory.ca. She will also work with the president and CEO to develop new cross platform strategies to extend the magazine brands and build new revenue streams for the organization.
Ms. Ward has more than 20 years of experience in the book and magazine publishing industry. Most recently she was the Executive Publisher of Azure and Designlines magazines. From 2000-2011, Ms. Ward was with Canadian Art magazine and foundation as publisher and executive director. She has also served the industry in a variety of capacities such as Industry Advisor to the Ontario Media Development Corporation and as a past board member and treasurer of Magazines Canada.

Ms. Ward will be based in Toronto, working closely with the strong team of advertising and circulation consultants who have contributed to the recent growth and success of both titles over the past five years.
Canada's History has a paid circulation of 32,000 and an unprecedented PMB-measured reach of 965,000 reader or 25 readers per copy. Kayak has a paid circulation of 8,000 in English and extended controlled distribution to over 32,000 French subscribers through a partnership with Quebec-based Les Debrouillards magazine. The society also publishes CanadasHistory.ca attracting more than 230,000 unique visitors per year; produces the Governor General's History Awards; coordinates a student-based initiative known as Heritage Fairs-Young Citizens, and recently launched a series of branded travel tours to European Battlefields to commemorate the upcoming anniversaries for World Wars I and II.
