Carly Fiorina to Speak at Maryland Smith

COLLEGE PARK, Md., Jan. 24, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Business leader and philanthropist Carly Fiorina, a 1980 MBA graduate of the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, will be the honored guest at the eighth annual Women Leading Women forum on March 5, 2019, in College Park, Md.

The former HP chief executive leads Carly Fiorina Enterprises and the Unlocking Potential Foundation. During her conversation with students and members of the Maryland community, Fiorina will draw upon lessons learned during her journey from business school to the C-suite.

Topics for discussion will come from her third book, "Find Your Way: Unleash Your Power and Highest Potential," scheduled for release by publisher Tyndale House on April 9, 2019.

The book delivers the same message for young college students and experienced business leaders: "No matter where you are in life right now, and no matter where you've been, you are not yet all you can be."

After graduating from the Smith MBA program, Fiorina landed a position as a management trainee at AT&T. Within 20 years she became the first woman to lead a Fortune 100 company. She says people often rise to the occasion when given the chance, but they need to stay flexible.

"Life can shift," Fiorina writes. "Circumstances shift. You can glean fresh understanding. You can change. You can grow. And as you seize the opportunities that are within you and right in front of you, you'll find a certain steadiness in your life that perhaps you've never known before."

Smith professor Nicole Coomber will moderate the discussion in Van Munching Hall on Maryland's College Park campus.
