WASHINGTON, Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following tip sheet was released today by the U.S. Census Bureau:
The Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) files for the 2014 American Community Survey one-year statistics are now available for users to create their own tabulations. The files contain data on approximately 1 percent of the United States population while protecting the confidentiality of survey respondents.
The files show population and housing characteristics down to Public Use Microdata Areas, which are special nonoverlapping areas that partition each state into contiguous geographic units containing no fewer than 100,000 people each. Users can create tabulations through their own software or through the Census Bureau tool DataFerrett.
The PUMS files can be accessed directly from http://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/acs/data/pums.html.
For more information about PUMS data, please see the About PUMS page.
Directly access documentation of the PUMS file here: http://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/acs/technical-documentation/pums/documentation.html.
