What: On National Census Day, April 1, 2010, Census Bureau Director Robert Groves will speak at a National Press Club luncheon to discuss the progress of the Census Bureau's constitutionally mandated task of conducting a once-a-decade headcount. America's increasingly diverse and growing population poses special challenges for the 2010 Census, including getting a complete count during an economic downtown.
About 134 million 2010 Census questionnaires were mailed or hand-delivered to households in March. National Census Day, April 1, is used as a target date for households mailing back their completed census forms.
The director's speech will conclude with a question-and-answer session.
