Census to Open Local Office to Serve West Philadelphia
Community to interact with national and regional 2010 Census Road Tour exhibits

What: Local Census office to open in West Philadelphia. The office will serve West Philadelphia and hire hundreds of local residents for office and field work.
The national and regional 2010 Census "New Portrait of America" vehicles and interactive, walk-through exhibits will be open to the community following the indoor ceremony.
When: Monday, Jan. 11, at 10 a.m. (EST)

Note: National and regional 2010 Census Road Tour vehicles and walk-through exhibits will be available for tours in the Business and Technology Center parking lot at 11 a.m. Speakers will be available for interview following the program.
The U.S. Constitution requires a population and housing count every 10 years. The effort employs some of the most sophisticated and technical and operational tools as well as a workforce of 1.4 million temporary employees to count every man, woman and child. Census results are the basis for congressional representation as well as the distribution of federal, state, and local funds totaling more than $400 billion annually. Census Day is April 1, 2010.
