Chevron North America Exploration and Production Co. President Jeff Shellebarger To Be Honored as International Citizen of the Year - Keynote Address To Be Delivered by Ambassador Thomas Pickering
HOUSTON, Feb. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The World Affairs Council of Greater Houston is proud to announce that Jeff Shellebarger, President of Chevron North America Exploration and Production Co., is being recognized as its 2019 International Citizen of the Year. Mr. Shellebarger will be presented this award at the 21st Annual Jesse H. Jones Award Luncheon on April 17th at The Post Oak Hotel in Houston, Texas. The keynote address will be delivered by Ambassador Thomas Pickering, former U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs.

Ambassador Thomas Pickering served as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs under President Clinton and as U.S. Ambassador to Russia, India, Israel, El Salvador, Nigeria, and Jordan. He was the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, and held positions including Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Oceans and Special Assistant to Secretary Henry Kissinger. Ambassador Pickering speaks French, Spanish, Swahili, Arabic, Hebrew and Russian.
Shellebarger is responsible for Chevron's oil and gas exploration and production operations in the United States and Canada. He previously served as the Managing Director of Chevron's IndoAsia business unit; the Executive Director of Chevron Pacific Indonesia; General Manager of Asset Development for Chevron's Southern Africa strategic business unit; and General Manager of Asset Development for Chevron North America's San Joaquin Valley strategic business unit.
Council-affiliated students and educators will be in attendance at the luncheon as honored guests. Exemplary students will be awarded scholarships and the International teacher of the year will be honored during the program. Following the lunch, the students and educators will attend a private program with Mr. Shellebarger and Ambassador Pickering to learn about their careers and have the opportunity to ask questions.
