Children's Hunger Fund Announces "Cargo of Hope"

Medical and Wellness Pioneer Dr. Myron Wentz to Fund Meals for Malnourished Children

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Children's Hunger Fund has partnered with microbiologist and immunologist Dr. Myron Wentz to fund "Cargo of Hope," a new initiative to deliver life-sustaining nutrition to orphans and malnourished children around the globe.

These food shipments will provide a minimum of 11 million meals for hungry children in villages and slum communities, as well as orphan children that are being underserved and nearing the point of starvation.

"These containers will be loaded with vitamin-fortified meal packets designed specifically for malnutrition relief. It's exactly what these children need."

The shipments will also include dried apricots and peaches, pinto beans, cranberry beans, black beans, and yellow-eyed beans. Each shipment will contain an effective mix of protein and good nutrition.

In 2006, CHF awarded Dr. Wentz with "The Children's Champion Award," their highest honor, for his passion to improve the health of orphans and needy children. Through his partnership with CHF, Dr. Wentz is personally responsible for the creation of the Wentz Medical Centers in Uganda and Cambodia, as well as the Wentz Maternity Ward in Malawi.

In addition to the "Cargo of Hope" sea containers which will go around the world, Dr. Wentz is also contributing significantly to the expansion of Children's Hunger Fund's Mercy Network in Ukraine. A Mercy Network is a trained network of local churches in a region which distributes the CHF provided food and aid to families in need, establishing a relationship for future help.
