China's Leading Online Education Company 51Talk Holds Final of Public English speech contest at NYSE
BEIJING, Aug. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- 51Talk (or "China Online Education Group"), China's leading online education platform (NYSE: COE), successfully held the final of its first "51Talk Star" English speaking contest for Chinese elementary school students at the New York Stock Exchange. The six young contestants who attended the final all delivered impressive performances, which were helped in part through the instruction of their 51Talk teachers.
Two of the final contestants are users of 51Talk's "English for Young Learners" online program, which is focused on children ages 4 to 15. These two contestants received guidance from their online teachers, who helped them grasp standard pronunciation and native expressions for use in their speeches.
These first two contestants belong to 51Talk's Kids program, in which Filipino teachers with a strong command of English are sourced and trained to conduct 51Talk's online lessons. Prospective hires go through a tough on boarding process, with a roughly 3% acceptance rate.
The remaining four contestants belong to 51Talk's "Hello World American Academy" program, which is the company's premium offering with curriculum specially designed for children ages 5 to 12 years old.
One of the student's parents stated that "The 51Talk teachers who joined us during our trip to the United States and the NYSE have been a great help with everything from tour organizing to contest hosting. They even put together customized lesson plans and vocabulary reviews to better prepare the students for their journey."
The "51Talk Star Final" is another step forward in 51Talk's mission to connect young learners in China with the rest of the world. Through the contest, students are given the opportunity to showcase what they've learned during their time with 51Talk.
