Christian Universities Online Publishes Top 10 Nursing Degree Programs 2017
DURHAM, N.C., Nov. 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading Christian higher education resource, Christian Universities Online (http://www.christianuniversitiesonline.org/), has published a ranking the Top 10 Nursing Degree Programs 2017. (http://www.christianuniversitiesonline.org/top-10-nursing-degree-programs-2017/)
Christian Universities Online produced this ranking by gathering a list of all colleges and universities with nursing programs that were either members of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) or member eligible. Publicly available data was then collected for each of these schools in the following categories: 1) number of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the field of nursing; 2) faculty-to-student ratio; 3) percent of full-time beginning undergraduates receiving grant or scholarship aid; 4) selectivity; 5) overall retention rate. Each category was weighted equally with the exception of number of degree programs, which was given a slightly higher weight.
Placing first in this ranking is Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California, and MidAmerica Nazarene University located in Olathe, Kansas placed second and third, respectively.
Other schools making the list include (in alphabetical order):
Eastern University - Saint Davids, Pennsylvania
King University - Bristol, Tennessee
Messiah College - Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania
Point Loma Nazarene University - San Diego, CA
Waynesburg University - Waynesburg, Pennsylvania
Wheaton College - Wheaton, Illinois
Whitworth University - Spokane, Washington
Christian Universities Online researched, compiled, and reviewed the data in order to present this list of the best of the best when it comes to the study of nursing and its related fields. The purpose of this ranking is to help students make their best choice when selecting a school to earn their degree in nursing.
Anna-Rebekah Orr, site editor, says, "Nursing is the backbone of the healthcare industry and as such offers great job security due to an increasingly high demand. But over and above that, many feel that the service-oriented nature of the work make it a truly high calling. Nurses are the face of healthcare to patients, providing the hands-on portion of most health and wellness visits and assisting physicians and specialists in their practices with vital insights and observation. Nurses bridge the gap between patient and doctor and are a critical component of a patient's experience, treatment, and healing. With all of this in mind, a Christian school--with its holistic view of the person and a focus on ethics and pastoral care--can be a wonderful context in which to study nursing."
Christian Universities Online hopes that its Top 10 Christian College Nursing Degree Programs for 2017 will prove a useful list for students considering a career in nursing. By creating this shortlist of nursing programs that warrant a closer look, we desire to assist in the decision-making process by completing some of the research for you.
