MEDFORD, Ore., Dec. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The City of Talent, Oregon, announced that it has reached an agreement with former City Manager Jay Henry, resolving all issues arising from the non-renewal of his employment contract earlier this year.
In June 2011 the City Council decided to move in a new direction and Mr. Henry's contract was not renewed. Mayor William Cecil wants to make it clear that Mr. Henry's leadership skills, technical competence and ethical foundation were never in question. The City Council expressed their appreciation to Mr. Henry for the professional manner in which Mr. Henry performed his duties during his tenure as the City Manager.
Mayor William Cecil said that, "Jay Henry was a valued chief executive for the City of Talent since his hire in 2008. The Mayor and Council appreciated Jay's professional vision, leadership and dedication in overseeing the City's operations. Jay came to the City at the beginning of the economic downturn and did an outstanding job in keeping the city operating in the black without sacrificing critical services or raising fees. He demonstrated the valuable talent of developing an organization that was lean and highly productive. We continue to benefit from his judgment in hiring several excellent department heads."
In response to the Mayor and Council's statements, Jay Henry said, "I want to thank Mayor Cecil and the Council for fully restoring my professional and personal reputation and acknowledging my contributions to the City of Talent. I also appreciate the countless words of support and encouragement from many friends and colleagues throughout southern Oregon and the northwest over the past several months."
The Mayor and City Council wish Mr. Henry well in his new endeavors.
