City Sports to Open Georgetown Location
Sports and lifestyle retailer to make M Street store DC flagship
BOSTON, Nov. 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- City Sports announced today that it will open a DC flagship retail store in Georgetown this December, marking the company's fourth District-area location and 18th store in the Northeast.

"Our new store will reflect the unique character of the neighborhood and deliver the legendary City Sports experience customers have come to expect from us."
The 10,434-square-foot store, located at 3338 M Street NW, will span two floors, and include many inaugural in-store features for City Sports. The new design concept will celebrate the rich industrial architectural details of the space, including exposed brick, concrete and metal and feature areas for product testing and interactive hotspots.
"The Georgetown neighborhood embodies the active energy of the City Sports brand," said Michael Mosca, EVP of Merchandising at City Sports. "We are creating a unique and dynamic experience that celebrates urban athleticism, and we're confident that City Sports Georgetown will quickly become the preeminent shopping destination for city athletes and active lifestyle enthusiasts in Washington."
Special features of the Georgetown store will include interactive zones – a first for City Sports – that will offer shoppers the use of in-store iPads to access media, product information and the company's website, an electronics department where shoppers can test different brands, and a "refuel" bar for energy food and sports drinks. The shop will also include a locker area, where participants in City Sports classes and activities – including the popular Run Club – can store their belongings, and a "parking room" for customers' bikes and strollers. "Our stores are natural gathering places for city athletes, and we're building a space to encourage that kind of community," Mosca adds.
The Georgetown location will join City Sports' three existing retailers in the DC Metro area which include stores at Gallery Place, 19th Street and Bethesda Row.
