CITYKIDS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES LIMITED-EDITION COLLECTION FROM KEITH HARING'S MONUMENTAL "CITYKIDS SPEAK ON LIBERTY"
For the first time, selected moments from Haring's largest single artwork - a 90-by-30-foot Statue of Liberty created with 1,000 New York City teenagers - will be released as fine-art editions as America marks its 250th anniversary.
NEW YORK, Oct. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The CityKids Foundation today announced a limited-edition fine-art collection drawn from CityKids Speak on Liberty, the monumental 1986 artwork created by Keith Haring, CityKids and approximately 1,000 young people from across New York City.
Measuring 90 by 30 feet, CityKids Speak on Liberty is the largest single artwork Haring ever created and one of the most ambitious collaborative works of his career.
At its center is Haring's enormous rendering of the Statue of Liberty. Over three days at the Jacob Javits Center, young people from all five boroughs filled Haring's composition with hundreds of drawings, handwritten statements, names, symbols and reflections responding to a simple question:
What does freedom mean to you?
When one teenage collaborator asked Haring why the Statue of Liberty's arm was crooked, he famously replied: "It's not crooked, it's wobbly — because liberty is wobbly."
Nearly 40 years later, selected moments within the artwork are being released as museum-quality fine-art editions for the first time.
The inaugural collection includes four compositions - The Liberty Torch, The Face of Liberty, We The People I and We The People II (https://www.iconicmoments.co/keith-haring) - each limited to 100 numbered editions, alongside collector sets, monumental one-third-scale canvas works and an open edition presenting the complete artwork.
The collection is being produced with Iconic Moments, whose previous collaborations include Art Basel, the Jackson Pollock Studio and the Norman Rockwell Estate.
The release coincides with America's 250th anniversary and will help support the next 40 years of The CityKids Foundation, including its vision for a School of Artivism where young people use art, storytelling and media as tools for leadership and meaningful change.
"By transforming the original work into a carefully curated collection, we are not ending its story — we are multiplying it," said CityKids founder Laurie Meadoff.
