Code of Support Foundation Salutes Post-9/11 Female Service Members
The Living Wall of Honor Exhibit at the Women In Military Service For America Memorial Highlights 160 Military Women Who Lost Their Lives in the Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Code of Support Foundation (COSF) unveiled its new exhibit, The Living Wall of Honor, at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, the gateway to Arlington National Cemetery, on Thursday, September 11, 2014. A custom structure of more than 700 indoor plants, The Living Wall pays tribute to the 160 military women who have lost their lives since 9/11 in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

"Since 2010, the Code of Support Foundation has worked to unite civilians with today's military service members, veterans and their families whose lives are integrally connected to our local communities," said COSF Board Trustee retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Irene Trowell-Harris. "The Living Wall of Honor is a unique memorial to our nation's fallen heroes from the past 13 years of war, and this new exhibit provides an opportunity for every American to recognize today's military women and their ultimate sacrifice."
Guests attending the unveiling completed the exhibit by placing the final 160 plants into the Living Wall to honor the service of those military women who were also daughters, sisters, mothers, wives and friends. Each of the plants featured the image and name of servicewoman. Participants included Gold Star parents of Army Specialist Toccara R. Green, (OIF) who lost her life in 2005 during her second deployment to Iraq.

Vaught, president of the Women's Memorial Foundation. "There is no more fitting place to honor the contributions and sacrifice of these women patriots than this major national memorial to their service and that of the some 3 million other women who have served in the nation's defense."
Representatives from the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce, and American Nurses Foundation were all in attendance. The Living Wall of Honor was designed by Green Living Technologies International and the indoor annuals provided by The Home Depot Foundation. The Living Wall of Honor exhibit will remain at The Women's Memorial through October.
