Manufacturing technology veteran to lead company's next phase of global growth in 3D inspection and adaptive process control
ANN ARBOR, Mich., Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Coherix, a global leader in 3D adhesive-dispensing inspection and adaptive process-control technology, has named Ed Allen as chief executive officer.
Allen brings more than 25 years of experience in manufacturing technology and enterprise software to the role as Coherix expands its global presence and advances solutions that help manufacturers improve quality, reduce waste and control adhesive-dispensing processes in real time.
Allen joined the Coherix board of directors in 2023 and became the board's executive director in 2025. He succeeds Dwight Carlson, who will continue serving as chairman of the board.
Before joining Coherix's leadership team, Allen held senior manufacturing-business leadership positions at Oracle, IBM and Infor. Most recently, he served as executive vice president of Manufacturing Industries at Infor, where he led a cross-functional team of 2,000 people.
"Ed knows our industry, our customers, our people, our technology and our board's ambitions from the inside out," said Carlson. "He has led large global teams that sell to the world's leading manufacturers and is the right leader to scale Coherix from a technology pioneer into a global growth company."
Under Allen's leadership, Coherix will focus on expanding its global customer base across automotive, battery manufacturing and consumer electronics; advancing its adaptive process-control software and analytics capabilities; and scaling its global operations to meet customer demand.
"Manufacturers are increasingly relying on advanced adhesive-dispensing processes to meet demanding requirements for product performance, quality and production efficiency," Allen said. "Every bead must be applied in the right volume and at the right location. Coherix combines 3D vision with adaptive process control to help manufacturers not only detect deviations but correct them in real time. I'm excited to lead our team as we bring these capabilities to more customers, production lines and markets around the world."
Unlike inspection systems that only identify defects after dispensing, Coherix combines high-speed 3D inspection with adaptive process control to measure adhesive bead volume and location and automatically adjust dispensing when deviations occur. This closed-loop approach helps manufacturers prevent defects, reduce scrap and rework, and maintain consistent dispensing quality throughout production.
Coherix systems also record and verify dispensing processes for every part produced, creating a permanent digital record that supports traceability, quality audits, warranty investigations and process verification.
With more than 6,000 systems installed since its introduction in 2015, Coherix 3D has inspected millions of customer parts worldwide. Backed by an investment of more than $100 million and over 1 million engineering hours, the company's technology helps manufacturers improve first-pass yield, increase production efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs across a wide range of adhesive-dispensing applications.
Allen holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and supply-chain management from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Wayne State University in Detroit.
