Colliers International Appoints Andrew J. Nelson as Chief Economist | USA
Former Director of Research & Strategy at Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management Will Provide Strategic Insight on Emerging Economic Trends
SEATTLE, Jan. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --Colliers International today announced the appointment of Andrew J. Nelson as Chief Economist | USA. With his wealth of experience in the financial sector, Nelson will focus on developing economic and market perspectives for Colliers and will serve as a strategic advisor to Colliers' clients.

Nelson will also lead Colliers International's U.S. research team in providing insight, thought leadership and guidance about commercial real estate, capital markets and financial investment and related sectors.

Nelson's experience prior to joining Colliers International includes holding a variety of leadership positions in both the public and private sectors. Prior to his most recent position as Director of Research and Strategy in the Americas at Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management, Nelson was Vice President of HOK Advance Strategies. In this role, he served as national practice leader of portfolio services, focusing on corporate real estate departments and public agencies. As a Community Builder Fellow at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, he led development of the integrated analysis system for HUD's first online public housing assessment system. Previously, he also directed a construction-lending program for the World Bank in Russia and managed the regional real estate consulting practice at Deloitte & Touche in San Francisco.
Nelson holds a Master of City and Regional Planning from Harvard University and is the author of numerous articles on real estate sustainability, retail sector dynamics and other topics in property economics, market research and demographics. Among other industry involvement, Nelson sits on the editorial board of the Journal for Sustainable Real Estate and is the outgoing Chair of the North American Research Task Force for the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Nelson is also a certified general real estate appraiser in California and a member of the Research Advisory Council for the U.S. Green Building Council.
Nelson will be based in Colliers' San Francisco office.
