Communications Technology Companies Give Back to Community at NACR Conference in Orlando

EAGAN, Minn., April 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On the morning of February 25, a group of leading communications technology partners came together to roll out (literally) a special gift to Tangelo Park Elementary School in Orlando, FL: 50 brand-new bicycles destined to be awarded to top-performing students at the A-rated school.

The donation was presented to school representatives in a "parade of bicycles" at the first general session of the NACR 2013 National Sales Conference, held February 25-27 at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando. With approximately 350 students and the motto "Excellence is the Only Option," Tangelo Park Elementary School is a nationally recognized Title 1 school located in southwestern Orange County, FL. The federally funded Title 1 program offers financial assistance to schools where 75% or more of students are eligible for free or reduced-cost lunch, providing supplemental services such as teachers, computer hardware and software, paraprofessionals, and tutoring.

Although a large percentage of families in the Tangelo Park community are low income and about 12% of the school's students are homeless, the school has been "A" rated for the past five years, thanks to sheer hard work, dedication, and encouragement. Based on achieving exceptional student performance for two or more consecutive years, Tangelo Park was also recognized as a "Distinguished School" at the National Title I Conference held January 20, 2013, in Nashville, TN.
