Congressman Fattah Salutes the Re-start of Pennsylvania's HEMAP, the Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program He Launched
PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), the architect of Pennsylvania's Homeowners Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program as a member of the State Legislature in the 1980s, issues this statement upon the re-start of HEMAP for Pennsylvania residents:
"HEMAP and Brian Hudson, executive director of the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, have a tremendous track record for helping thousands of Pennsylvanians stay in their homes when facing foreclosure during difficult times. The program's temporary halt last year was a real loss.
"Now HEMAP has been revived, with an infusion of funds generated by Attorney General Holder's cash settlement with mortgage lenders. As the architect of the original HEMAP program, I commend this step by the Corbett Administration to re-start this program of proven value so that it will resume assisting homeowners and therefore stabilize neighborhoods across Pennsylvania."
