Congressman Fattah to Speak at Health and Business Events in Philadelphia on Friday

WASHINGTON, April 23, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tomorrow, Friday, April 24, Congressman Chaka Fattah (PA-02), will deliver remarks at two community-wide events in Philadelphia. First, at 10:30am, Fattah will join the American Kidney Fund and Philadelphia Department of Public Health for Kidney Action Day, featuring free kidney health screenings, interactive fitness demonstrations, and local entertainment. Fattah, who has been a leader in Congress in advocating for increased funding for medical research, will help raise awareness of kidney disease and the importance of early detection and prevention. 

Immediately following, Congressman Fattah will join Temple University and the Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania to launch their joint project, Temple Ventures – Powered by Ben Franklin. The initiative is a $1 million startup accelerator designed to assist companies advancing Temple-created technologies. Through his role as lead Democrat on the Commerce, Justice, and Science (CJS) Appropriations Subcommittee, Fattah has been a leader in science, technology, and innovation and will commend the partners for their commitment to growing Philadelphia as a leader in the R&D and technology industries.
