Consumers Energy Earns Recognition for Commitment to Providing Careers to Military Veterans

State Agency Designation Highlights Veteran Recruitment, Training, Retention

JACKSON, Mich., Aug. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency has recognized Consumers Energy as a "veteran-friendly" employer because of its commitment to recruit, train and retain men and women who have served their country.

The state agency has awarded the company bronze-level achievement as a veteran-friendly employer. The recognition will assist Consumers Energy in its ongoing employee recruitment efforts as Michigan's largest energy provider.

"Consumers Energy provides rewarding careers to military veterans across Michigan, and we are pleased with this special designation from the MVAA," said Catherine Hendrian, Consumers Energy's vice president of human resources. The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency recognizes employers that commit to military veteran recruitment, training and retention practices by awarding those employers gold, silver and bronze level status as veteran-friendly employers. The agency's Veteran-Friendly Employer program helps qualified organizations recruit and retain top veteran talent while providing others a road map to improve their recruitment efforts.
