Credit Suisse North American Equity Research has teamed up with the Global Economics group to develop the CSBMI, which is comprised of a basket of 25 industry or sector indicators that reflect the strength of underlying demand, the level of production, and the price performance of the basic materials sectors. In addition to indicators covering the chemicals, energy, materials, and paper & packaging sectors, the CSBMI also includes transportation & shipping indicators as their performance generally reflects the underlying strength of global economic data.
In conjunction with the launch of the CSBMI, Credit Suisse North American Equity Research recently published a new report to be issued monthly entitled, "Basic Indicators." Combining "real world" indicators and equity analyst commentary, the report highlights what the performance of the basic materials, energy and transportation sectors reveal about the global economy.
Stefano Natella, Global Head of Equity Research at Credit Suisse, said, "We are committed to providing top tier research and tools to our clients. The Credit Suisse Basic Materials Indicator and monthly 'Basic Indicators' report, demonstrate our continued efforts to leverage our thought leadership across industries and our Equity and Fixed Income Research franchises."
