Credit Union Times and Stuart Levine & Associates Launch Credit Union Leadership Forum
The Credit Union Leadership Forum recognizes the need to comply with upcoming board of directors requirements.
NEW YORK, Jan. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Credit Union Times and Stuart Levine & Associates announced today a partnership to provide educational training for credit union boards of directors.
The Credit Union Leadership Forum will help credit union boards of directors stay on top of what they need to know to provide proper oversight of their institutions. The National Credit Union Administration has issued a final rulemaking outlining certain standards for boards of directors, including fiduciary duty and financial literacy.
The Credit Union Leadership Forum is dedicated to strengthening credit union boards of directors through informational and learning opportunities that ensure credit union stability and growth. For credit union boards to operate at a high level, its leadership needs constant, high-quality information and continuing education for the highest quality oversight and decision making.
"By virtue of our experience in governance, we felt that we possess valuable knowledge we want to share with credit union boards of directors. Credit Union Times has the perspective and reputation Stuart Levine & Associates wanted to associate itself with in the credit union marketplace," Stuart R. Levine, chairman and CEO of Stuart Levine & Associates, said in announcing the partnership.
"We're very excited to partner with such an experienced firm to offer a much-needed product for credit unions," Credit Union Times Publisher Thomas R. Greve stated. "It's the right effort at the right time to assist boards in obtaining credit union stability, security and growth."
According to the NCUA, "Currently, an FCU's board must look to state statutory and case law to determine the scope of its fiduciary duties to members and the standard of care required as articulated by its state of location. Statutory law and case law vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction causing confusion for FCUs and a lack of uniformity between FCUs in different states."
Through our combined contacts within the NCUA, credit unions and governance channels, the Credit Union Leadership Forum will provide credit unions with a leading edge educational experience. Annual membership will include:
- Subscription to the new e-newsletter CUT to the Chase: Strategic Insights for Credit Union Boards
- Director Webinars on topical issues to increase board effectiveness
- Annual Forums for high level, issue-oriented educational opportunities for board directors and CEOs
- In-person peer-to-peer events and discussions
- Free and discounted consultation services
- Free Subscription to Credit Union Times for all C-level Executives and Boards of Directors
