Designed to recognize executives under 40 who are working to better the future of the credit union industry, this new program provides a great opportunity for young professionals and more seasoned executives to share experiences and learn from each other.
"Credit unions face many threats but one of the greatest is the aging of the industry," Editor-in-Chief Sarah Snell Cooke said. "Young professionals' enthusiasm and interest in credit unions must be nurtured. We want to be a part of that."
Nominations will be taken throughout 2011 and narrowed down to an elite 12 who will be recognized by Credit Union Times on a new microsite, CUTimes.com/Trailblazers-40-Below, in Credit Union Times and will have access to exclusive news and information.
The microsite features a virtual mentoring program from seasoned executives and peers. This diverse eMentor panel includes the Crash Network, senior executives currently supporting the industry, and the Credit Union Retired Executives network (CURE).
"There is a great need for this type of service," said CURE Executive Director Holly Herman. "We learn so much from those who have the experience of our industry."
Sponsored by CO-OP, the first Trailblazers 40 Below will be unveiled in May at the CO-OP THINK 11 Conference.
