NEW YORK, Oct. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Curacity, a content and data driven marketplace serving the travel industry, today announced that its content amplification network of publishers will now include AFAR Media, the fastest growing multiplatform travel content company. For Curacity, this deal expands its reach to nearly ten million monthly users through the databases of its publishing partners. Curacity's online to offline data attribution platform will allow AFAR to earn commissions from hotels for bookings that happen in the real world, due to the influence of AFAR's content.
Curacity works with dozens of the most recognized and celebrated hotels, and provides them with a means to measure revenue driven by publishers' online content and amplification efforts. Hotels then pay agency-like commissions on these bookings to Curacity publishers. Unlike an affiliate program, bookings and revenue are measured based on the online impact of all offline sales within an inspiration window up to twelve months.
"AFAR's Recommended Hotels on AFAR.com is an editorially curated, comprehensive resource for discerning travelers to best determine what hotels are best for them. Our partnership with Curacity allows us to better serve our travelers and hotel partners. It helps fulfill our vision of taking travelers from inspiration to action and allows us to capture a previously untapped revenue stream," said Joe Diaz, Co-founder of AFAR Media. "We know we guide our audience's travel decisions; Curacity provides a much-needed solution to help us become more knowledgeable about how AFAR's award-winning editorial content leads to bottom of the funnel revenue."
"We are thrilled to welcome AFAR Media to our fast-growing movement to reorganize the travel marketing ecosystem. Currently, online travel agencies tax hotel revenues via commissions, irrespective of whether the demand was catalyzed by their own efforts," said Mike Keriakos, Co-Founder and CEO of Curacity. "We are excited to take the lead in harnessing and measuring the demand publishers create for luxury hotels, which we're confident will force a new conversation between hotels and OTAs as to where demand originates and what entity deserves the financial credit. Our goal is nothing short of moving 50-percent of the dollars used to chase existing demand into creating new demand within this $10 billion category."
Curacity has built a content and data driven marketplace serving the travel industry. Using proprietary technology, its products help hotels reach and monetize travelers at the critical point of inspiration, while enabling publishers to earn OTA-like commissions for hotel bookings catalyzed by their content within a 12-month window. Mike Keriakos, Co-Founder and CEO, is a digital marketing veteran who formerly cofounded Everyday Health. Nick Slavin, Co-Founder and President has a background in real estate and hospitality private equity. Curacity launched in 2015 and is headquartered in Stamford, CT and New York City.
