HOUSTON, Aug. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cyanco Holding Corporation ("Cyanco") today announced the successful ramp up of the latest capacity expansion of its sodium cyanide solution plant in Winnemucca, Nevada, bringing capacity from 93,000 to 110,000 metric tons per year.
The latest Winnemucca expansion is another step in Cyanco's growth strategy in the North American market. In a series of very capital efficient steps, the Winnemucca plant capacity has been expanded from 39,000 metric tons in 2008 to the current 110,000 metric tons per year. Cyanco focuses on the North American market from the two plants in the Winnemucca facility. Within North America, the company has the capability of supplying U.S. customers directly from Winnemucca. In addition, the company operates regionally-focused distribution terminals in Quebec, Canada and Hermosillo, Mexico.
Cyanco's legacy markets in Nevada continue to grow, and the company is uniquely positioned with same day delivery and vendor managed inventory. Local terminals with on-site inventory in high growth gold mining areas such as Quebec and Sonora allow Cyanco to serve regional demand and provide continuity of supply very effectively. The combination of Cyanco's Winnemucca facility and its new Houston, Texas solids facility allows the company to provide unparalleled service to sodium cyanide customers throughout North America. Cyanco's position in both solid and solution sodium cyanide, with four discrete production lines across two manufacturing locations, offers customers the ultimate in supply chain integrity assurance.
In addition, since 2012, Cyanco and Posabro Corp. have partnered to promote and distribute Cyanco's solid and solution sodium cyanide throughout Mexico via a distribution terminal in Hermosillo, with other terminals planned in other gold mining regions of Mexico. The combination of solids (ISO containers or bag boxes) and solutions via ISO containers, combined with an experienced cyanide logistics force and in-country emergency response teams, brings Mexican gold mines flexibility and safety protection.
With the new Texas plant and the expansion in Winnemucca, Cyanco is now the largest global producer of sodium cyanide with a total capacity of 165,000 metric tons. The "new" Cyanco was formed in 2008 when Oaktree Capital Management acquired Nevada Chemicals Inc. and purchased Degussa's (Evonik's) sodium cyanide business in the United States and Canada. Cyanco has been intimately involved in the development and implementation of the International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC) and is represented on the Industry Advisory Group to the International Cyanide Management Institute. All of Cyanco's facilities are ICMC certified. In addition to being a sodium cyanide producer, the Applied Technology division of Cyanco provides consulting services, laboratory support and cyanide detoxification technology to assist customers throughout the lifecycle of its products.
