Dating app for vegans and vegetarians hits 100,000-user milestone

NEW YORK, March 5, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The number of people using Veggly, a specialty dating app for vegans and vegetarians, has increased fivefold since mid-2019, with more than 100,000 users now signed up to find and connect with Veg-Matches who share their eating habits, values and lifestyle.

Alex Felipelli, Veggly's founder and CEO, designed the app to facilitate friendships, flirting and short- and long-term relationships among vegans and vegetarians, who often face challenges forming lasting romantic connections with omnivores.

"I had difficulty finding a partner who shared the same values," Felipelli said. "For vegans and vegetarians, just deciding where to have dinner can be awkward and stressful when you're out with someone you don't know very well. More importantly, the decision to eliminate or significantly reduce the consumption of animal-derived products is often a matter of commitment. Veggly grew exponentially in 2019 with the launch of subscription packages, which offer users the option to avoid ads and access to bonus features designed to enhance the Veggly experience. The app is available for iOS, Android and desktop.

Veggly, which launched in 2018, is available in English, Danish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish, with Polish scheduled to be available this year. Fifty-three percent of users are female and 47% are male. Fifty-eight percent of users are vegan, 28% are vegetarian and 14 percent identify as in transition. The largest age group active on Veggly is 25-34 years old.
