Debbie's Dream Foundation and Weill Cornell Medicine to Host Gastric Cancer Educational Symposium on November 1 in New York City

Uniting clinical expertise and patient perspectives to elevate understanding and innovation in stomach cancer care

NEW YORK, Sept. 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer (DDF) is proud to announce its upcoming Gastric Cancer Educational Symposium in collaboration with Weill Cornell Medicine, taking place Friday, November 1, 2025, on the Weill Cornell Medicine Upper East Side campus in New York City. This in-person-only symposium, chaired by Dr. Rutika Mehta, a leading medical oncologist at Weill Cornell Medicine and member of DDF's Scientific and Medical Advisory Board (SMAB), will officially launch Gastric Cancer Awareness Month.

The event will bring together leading experts in gastric cancer to discuss emerging trends in treatment, prevention, clinical trials, surgical options, and patient-centered care. In addition, the symposium will offer insights for patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and advocates as part of DDF's ongoing efforts to raise awareness and improve outcomes for those impacted by this often-overlooked disease.

She did all of this while receiving hundreds of rounds of chemo and daily oral treatments. Debbie passed away on December 23, 2017, at 50, almost a decade later.
